Following a brief spell in retirement Nigel & Liz Coles have returned to run the Butchers and Bakers that they have owned since 1980. Situated on the New Road, it is easily recognisable with its green striped awning on the front of the shop. The butchers’ shop sources its meat from local farmers wherever possible. It is then traditionally prepared on the premises, ready for sale in the shop. Also produced on site are burgers – beef and lamb, faggots a variety of sausages and dry cured bacon. Cooked meats, home-made pork pies, black pudding and cheeses are some of the items available on the deli counter.
Sandwiches and baguettes are freshly made to order, with a selection of bread and rolls to choose from. Hot and cold fillings are available with a choice of bacon, sausage, egg, ham, prawn, cheese and salads. Home-made pies, pasties and sausage rolls are also available either hot or cold.
